چکیده

Our previous results [J.Phys.: Condens. Matter 14 (2002) 13777] dealing with the analytical solution of the two-dimensional (2-D) Anderson localization problem due to disorder is generalized for anisotropic systems (two different hopping matrix elements in transverse directions). We discuss the mathematical nature of the metalinsulator phase transition which occurs in the 2-D case, in contrast to the 1-D case, where such a phase transition does not occur. In anisotropic systems two localization lengths arise instead of one length only.

Exact and approximate solutions of fuzzy LR linear systems: New algorithms using a least squares model and the ABS approach

We present a methodology for characterization and an approach for computing the solutions of fuzzy linear systems with LR fuzzy variables. As solutions, notions of exact and approximate solutions are considered. We transform the fuzzy linear system into a corresponding linear crisp system and a constrained least squares problem. If the corresponding crisp system is incompatible, then the fuzzy ...

Exact solution for anisotropic diffusion-controlled reactions with partially reflecting conditions.

We investigate a generalization of the model of Solc and Stockmayer to describe the diffusion-controlled reactions between chemically anisotropic reactants taking into account the partially reflecting conditions on two parts of the reaction surface. The exact solution of the relevant mixed boundary-value problem was found for different ratios of the intrinsic rate constants. The results obtaine...

Electronic localization in disordered systems

A brief review is given of the current understanding of the electronic structure, transport properties and the nature of the electronic states in disordered systems. A simple explanation for the observed exponential behaviour in the density of states (Urbach tails) based on short-range Gaussian fluctuations is presented. The theory of Anderson localization in a disordered system is reviewed. Ba...

Fe b 20 04 Reply to Comment on “ Exact analytic solution for the generalized Lyapunov exponent of the 2 - dimensional Anderson localization ”

We reply to comments We demonstrate that our quite different viewpoints stem for the different physical assumptions made prior to the choice of the mathematical formalism. The authors of the Comment expect a priori to see a single thermodynamic phase while our approach is capable of detecting coexistence of distinct pure phases. The limitations of the transfer matrix techniques for the multi-di...

Non-Fourier heat conduction equation in a sphere; comparison of variational method and inverse Laplace transformation with exact solution

Small scale thermal devices, such as micro heater, have led researchers to consider more accurate models of heat in thermal systems. Moreover, biological applications of heat transfer such as simulation of temperature field in laser surgery is another pathway which urges us to re-examine thermal systems with modern ones. Non-Fourier heat transfer overcomes some shortcomings of Fourier heat tran...
